last days in kilosa
Hello from Tanzania. Welcome (Karibu) my new website! (Thanks to Ms. Tait aka Furaha Davidson : ) We Peace Corps Trainees have been diligently training for the last two months, learning Kiswahili, Tanzanian ways of living and survival strategies (me and Tait washed clothes from a set of buckets this morning) and we are about to journey into another stage of this amazing experinece: to our sites. Thus, we are in our last days at Kilosa. I have grown to not only appreciate but also to love my homestay family and having to "leave" such an unbelievable support structure is a very emotional experience. Knowing that I will come back to Magomeni (small town in Kilosa district) eases my anxiety a bit, but nonetheless this next move will be a big step in this move towards independence as a peace corps volunteer.
Yesterday we were all successfull in showing off our talents with the rest of the PCTs and tonight we are having our final party at Magomeni. Wednesday we swear in as Volunteers and Thursday I head off to Dar Es Salaam with the other volunteers who will also live in the Deep South. We will stay a few days in Dar, when I hope to be able to check in and update with more details. See you then!
